The Client: The Sustainable Partnership is working with a specialist battery storage and broader energy transition infrastructure firm. As their portfolio continues to grow, they are seeking a technically strong Battery Storage Engineer to sit at the heart of project delivery.
The Role: Sitting within the EPC team, you will serve as the go-to technical expert on battery storage across a portfolio of utility-scale projects. The remit spans the entire asset journey – from early-stage technical input and vendor selection through to on-site delivery, testing, and handover.
Responsibilities:
- Own the technical direction on storage system design, performance requirements, and procurement specifications
- Scrutinise contractor and OEM designs across electrical, civil, thermal, and control system disciplines
- Take a lead role in vendor assessment and selection, spanning battery suppliers, inverter manufacturers, and energy management platforms
- Manage the full testing and commissioning process, from factory through to site acceptance
- Support investment and asset management teams with technical input on new opportunities and ongoing portfolio oversight
Candidate Profile:
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a closely related field
- Solid track record in utility-scale battery storage (Min 2 years) or comparable power infrastructure, gained over 5 or more years
- Hands-on familiarity with lithium-ion systems, power conversion, energy management, and HV/LV plant
- Comfortable navigating UK grid connection requirements and relevant technical standards
- Credible with both technical and non-technical audiences, and able to manage multiple contractor relationships simultaneously
