Join Powers – We’re Hiring an Underground Utility Surveyor! At Powers, we’re a fast-growing team of geospatial consultants providing measured surveys, underground utility detection, and 3D Revit models to the architecture, construction, and civil engineering sectors. We’re looking for a motivated Underground Utility Surveyor to join our utilities team. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step after working as an Assistant Underground Utility Surveyor.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Conduct large-scale underground utility detection surveys in compliance with PAS 128 standards.
  • Being able to conduct large topographical surveys is also desirable as this skill ensures high-quality underground utility surveys.
  • Process high-quality drawings and ensure project completion meets agreed deliverables.
  • Deliver projects in line with specifications and tight deadlines.
  • Mentor and support Powers survey apprentices.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and quality procedures.
Experience & Qualifications Required:
  • Minimum of 4 years’ surveying experience, with a proven ability to independently deliver high-quality, complex underground utility detection and topographical surveys.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, N4ce, and experienced in using Ground Penetrating Radar equipment, a Cat and Genny and Leica Total Stations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of surveying.
  • HNC/ONC in a surveying related qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2 A Levels (or equivalent) and 5 GCSEs (grade A-C or equivalent), including English and Maths (grade 6 required).
  • Membership to the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (even if only Associate member level).
  • Attention to detail is crucial, ensuring all outputs meet strict Quality Assurance guidelines.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in client-facing roles.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to achieve personal and professional goals.
  • A strong team player, capable of fostering positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • CSCS or ECTIB card required.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including route walking and surveying in construction environments.
