We are seeking a resilient, adaptable, and confident Cover Supervisor to support a range of secondary schools across Okehampton. In this pivotal role, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged and learning continues effectively. This position is ideal for individuals with strong behaviour‑management skills, a calm and professional manner, and the ability to build rapport quickly with students.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials to classes across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Manage student behaviour in line with school policies, maintaining a positive, safe learning environment.
- Ensure pupils stay on task, offering support and clarification where needed (teaching is not required).
- Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, behaviour, and completed work.
- Adapt quickly to different school settings, year groups, and subject areas as needed.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong classroom‑management skills and confidence working with young people.
- Calm, resilient, and able to think on your feet in fast‑paced situations.

- Professional, reliable, and able to build positive relationships.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:
