Your role: The Sun is looking to bring in first class reporters, brimming with ideas and a can-do attitude, to join Fleet Street’s most dynamic operation. As a UK News Reporter, you will grow The Sun’s readership by producing engaging print and digital stories, pitching exclusives, and rapidly developing breaking news.
Day to day you will:
- Cover fast-moving breaking news stories with speed, precision, and adherence to legal and IPSO standards.
- Generate agenda-setting exclusives, original feature ideas, and compelling pitches tailored for print and digital formats.
- Craft engaging, entertaining copy that fits The Sun’s distinctive tone and drives reader recirculation across our platforms.
- Collaborate closely with picture and video desks to maximize story impact and reach on all channels.
- Conduct interviews in dynamic situations and report live during major breaking news events under tight deadline pressure.
What we're looking for from you:
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to deliver vibrant, clean copy to tight deadlines.
- Background in a busy newsroom environment with a track record of handling pressure with ease.
- Fast writing and sharp basic subbing skills.
- Genuine passion for all things news.
- Flexible approach to working hours across a seven-day roster.
- Deep understanding of The Sun brand across both print and digital platforms.
- Thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law, and key ethical considerations.
