We’re looking for a talented, highly motivated, resourceful individual, with deep knowledge of social media platforms and sports news, to join The Sun Sport Social team.

Your Role:

As the Sun Sport Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for driving engagement and building our sports community across various social media platforms. Your role will be instrumental in shaping and executing our social media strategy, creating compelling content, and fostering meaningful interactions with our sports-loving audience.

Day to day you will:

  • Manage and grow multiple accounts including The Sun Football, Sun Sport and Dream Team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Suggest themes and stories, and guide editorial on best practice for sport social.
  • Send push notifications on a range of sporting topics to drive page views
  • Cover a range of high-profile sporting events including the Premier League, World Cup, Olympics and major boxing matches
  • Source and create high-quality original engagement content including graphics, and work with the video team to plan and upload video content
  • Work directly with editorial, digital, video, picture, design, commercial and marketing teams, ensuring their respective demands are met.
  • Contribute to The Sun’s adoption of emerging social platforms and tools, and be part of the process to help grow The Sun’s sport social channels.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Detailed knowledge of social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • A keen interest in a variety of sports including football, boxing, darts, horse racing and US sports.
  • A background in sport editorial or copywriting is preferable.
  • Newsroom experience would be an advantage
  • Calm under pressure and able to deliver work at a consistently high standard.
  • Proactive and displays a willingness to take on any task.
  • Take initiative in order to achieve desired results.
  • Organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Understanding of the Sun Sport brand, both print and digital.
