Your role As a Senior Shooting Producer in Sun Originals’ Factual department, you will be a key player in crafting compelling long‑form video content that drives views and engagement across digital platforms. Please note this is a casual vacancy. The Sun Originals Factual team make award‑winning documentaries, fascinating digital‑first interview series and hugely successful studio shows. As a shooting producer you will be an integral part of a new department inside the Sun Originals team focussed on creating high quality and impactful video around investigations, royals, current affairs and crime.

You will work closely with the Executive Producer to produce, shoot and edit across multiple projects including long‑form documentaries, investigations, exclusive interviews and new digital‑first formats. You will be an exceptional all‑round shooter/editor, comfortable working as part of a crew or solo. You will be comfortable managing talent in sensitive situations, conducting interviews and managing relationships with contributors. News or current affairs experience is a must and a keen sense for visual storytelling. A keen editorial eye and basic knowledge of media law and IPSO regulations is preferred. This is an opportunity for a passionate filmmaker to work on exciting high‑impact projects at the heart of the Sun’s video output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shooting/Producing: Self‑shoot and produce for long‑form documentary projects to an exceptional standard working either alongside a journalist, small crew or solo. Produce, shoot and direct studio based long‑form interviews about sensitive subjects managing contributors with care and sound editorial judgment. Shoot and produce exclusive interviews with high profile talent, managing the project end to end.
  • Editing: Edit to a high standard across both medium and long form projects with particular focus on narrative and documentary storytelling. Work closely with the Executive Producer, journalists and the factual team to deliver on the editorial direction and ensure video content supports wider newsroom goals.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Self‑shooting filmmaker: You have hands‑on experience shooting high quality factual content in a large, fast‑paced news media environment. You are comfortable delivering a project from pre‑production to final edit, shaping narrative and executing a creative brief.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Sony range cameras, lighting and Adobe editing software.
  • Digital Native: You’re immersed in the digital landscape, with a strong understanding of YouTube, social media platforms, and how audiences engage with video content online.
  • Platform‑Savvy: You know how to shape content for different platforms, particularly YouTube.
  • Creative Storyteller: You have a passion for storytelling and can bring creativity to every project.
