Your Role: Every Reporter is responsible for seeking out and bringing stories to life on our award-winning website, in print and other emerging platforms. One day you could be making sure the content shines online while the next you could be sending in videos from a live scene. If you thrive in a role that offers variety then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Day to day:

  • Source and produce first-class news content
  • Write snappy, accurate copy and headlines in The Scottish Sun’s unique style directly into Wordpress
  • Contribute to video ideas and emerging platforms including TikTok
  • Bring in agenda-setting scoops and exclusives that chime with Scottish Sun readers
  • Independently build contacts to maintain a steady flow of original news stories.
  • Write in a concise and entertaining way in keeping with Scottish Sun style but free from cliché.
  • Interview people in a range of different circumstances.
  • Be mindful of IPSO and legal issues

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Experience of reporting or writing for a newspaper or magazine, online or in print
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to produce copy which is crisp and accurate and to a fast, live deadline while maintaining quality
  • Keen attention to detail and unflappable under the pressure of a breaking story
  • Passion for all things news, celebrity and current affairs
  • An energetic, enthusiastic and story-hungry individual
  • Someone who is keen to make their mark
  • Able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • A sense of humour and positive energy.
  • Knowledge of IPSO regulations
