This senior role will play a key part in delivering standout consumer journalism on The Sun\βs newspaper and website.You will support the Head of Consumer and Consumer Editor with editing and commissioning to help drive traffic and subscriptions.Your role:Deputise for the Consumer Editor and Head of Consumer where necessary, running the day-to-day news list at least one day a weekAttend conferences and present to editors when requiredSupport the Head of Consumer with print pages, campaigns, investigations and special projectsHelp write and edit content for Sun Club to drive membershipsUse SEO, Parsley and Google Trends to help guide commissioning and construct headlinesWork with different departments including News, Audience and Video to co-ordinate the distribution of Consumer content online, in print or video.Represent The Sun on radio and TVGenerate fresh story ideas, hunt down exclusives, uncover compelling angles and spot talking points that will engage, inform and surprise our readersSupport team with developing story ideas and getting information stood up or creating graphics and interactivesEnsure all Consumer content is visually appealing, through the use of graphics, pictures, video and interactive toolsHelp develop talent and support the progression of reporters on the teamWhat we are looking for from you:Experience working as a senior reporter or editor for a national newspaper or major news organisationExperience and expertise in consumer, business or personal finance journalismExperience using Wordpress or similar CMS system to build content digitallyExcellent writing skills with the ability to write clean copy to tight deadlinesA passion for The Sun and understanding of the brand in print and onlineBeing a self-starter is key β and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroomEnthusiasm, imagination and a notebook full of ideas are all essentialUnflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standardPositive attitude and a good team player with a collaborative mindsetA strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issuesWe are News UK: One of the leading media businesses in the UK and Ireland.
