The Video Distribution team plays a central role in this transformation, working across platforms to maximise reach and impact. We are dedicated to delivering innovative, engaging video content that connects with audiences across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook. We are seeking a Channel Manager to join the team on a casual rolling contract. As a Channel Manager for Sun News Video, you will be responsible for publishing, optimising, and growing The Sun’s video presence across multiple social platforms, with a particular focus on YouTube. Working closely with the Head of Video Distribution and the News Video team, you will combine creativity with data-driven insights to maximise content performance, expand audience reach, and deliver measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Publish content directly to a range of social accounts (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook), maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Video Distribution to develop and execute a YouTube growth strategy aligned with The Sun’s editorial priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand audience reach and increase engagement through YouTube features, including metadata optimisation, thumbnails, and strategic publishing.
  • Work closely with the News Video team to maximise content performance and support new formats.
  • Analyse performance data and audience insights to refine strategy and report regularly on channel performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective cross-platform promotion of video content.
  • Deliver regular reports to internal teams, clearly communicating performance, insights, and recommendations.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced & Strategic: 2+ years of experience managing YouTube channels, with a proven ability to write metadata, create thumbnails, and grow audiences.
  • Data-Driven: Skilled at turning analytics into actionable publishing strategies.
  • Creative & Passionate: A strong interest in one or more of News, Fashion, or Sports content, with a keen eye for what engages audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial: Ideally, you have set up and run your own YouTube channel, demonstrating initiative and ownership.
  • Collaborative: Able to work effectively across teams to maximise performance and reach.
