Your role: We’re looking for an Audience Analyst to work in our fast‑paced newsroom and support the Audience department, journalists and editors. You’ll need to support day‑to‑day performance updates and longer‑term analysis, extracting insights from data, and presenting them clearly for stakeholders. The role is based at News UK’s London headquarters and requires working from the office at least three days a week.

Day to day you will:

  • Work with large and complex datasets across multiple platforms and metrics to build reports and support Editorial intelligence.
  • Optimise and improve existing Editorial reporting and analytics data pipelines.
  • Investigate and identify patterns within complex, unstructured data, and communicate insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to raise technical issues and new feature requests and drive them through to resolution.
  • Monitor and analyse Editorial performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Provide insight and make recommendations to the newsroom to grow our audience.
  • Provide detailed longer‑term analysis and insight for the Audience department and Editorial teams to inform editorial strategy and technical roadmap.
  • Proactively analyse traffic and engagement, and make data‑led recommendations through data storytelling.
  • Work in The Sun’s Audience department, and with News UK’s central analytics team.
  • Decide what tools we should use to maximise understanding of traffic and engagement.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Experience with web and platform analytics tools.
  • Experience building reports in Google Looker Studio and other data visualisation tools such as Omni.
  • Advanced Excel and intermediate SQL (Google BigQuery a plus) skills and experience working with large data sets.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced news environment while also running longer‑term projects.
  • Confident understanding of the role of analytics within the media sector.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, written and oral, with the ability to translate data for non‑technical audiences.
  • Confidence in delivering and presenting actionable insights and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Logical approach and problem‑solving skills, drawing meaningful conclusions from disparate and incomplete sources.
  • Ability to understand complex business questions and frame the right analytical questions.
