Casual Fitness Instructor (3 positions)

Responsibilities

Enforce regulations which directly impact on the Health & Safety and well‑being of all patrons using the centre’s facilities. Monitoring and supervising the public to such effect.

Following an approved training programme, develop a working knowledge of all normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plans in order to carry out duties.

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the centre, completing relevant documentation and assist in maintaining standards of cleanliness.

Establish and maintain customer awareness of UWE policies and procedures and Health & Safety protocol while maintaining good customer care practice.

Delivery of Fitness Room Inductions. Carrying out detailed instruction to all new members and gym users on how to use the equipment safely and effectively.

Supervising the gym area ensuring the safety of users and the safe use of equipment.

Assisting with the maintenance of all equipment and the reporting of health and safety hazards to the Operations Manager.

To carry out such other duties as are required.

The post holder will be expected to work flexible hours including evening and weekends.

Skills and Experience

NVQ Level 2 Gym Instructor eg YMCA/Premier Cert.in Fitness Instruction

A high standard of knowledge of gym supervision, exercise prescription and fitness assessment procedures.

An understanding of exercise related anatomy and physiology.

Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people including university staff and students and members of the general public.

An understanding of the health and safety procedures pertaining to the fitness environment.

Hours

Must have a flexible approach to working hours, including evening and weekends.
