Are you passionate about supporting and empowering others to achieve, grow and improve? The Students’ Union at UWE is currently recruiting for a Representation Team Leader to join our Representation team on a Full Time, 37 hours per week, permanent basis. We are looking for someone with experience of managing and/or supervising others, who embodies our organisational values and behaviours, to be our Representation Team Leader; to act as a people and team leader for projects relating to academic representation and democratic processes in the Representation Team in collaboration with key university stakeholders. This position will also support the elected Full-Time Sabbatical Officers and Part Time Officers in achieving their goals whilst in post. Our Representation Team advocates for the academic interests of students and ensures their experience is enhanced through the opportunities, community and representation that The Students’ Union at UWE provides.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Representation Team Leader will be responsible for effectively managing the three Representation Coordinators in post, leading them to develop, facilitate and support the system of academic representation and showcase its impact.
  • This role will report to and work with the Representation Manager, who will provide the overall departmental vision for the team, identify projects that enhance the student experience and support the Coordinators to succeed whilst delivering their own projects.
  • The team leader will use people excellence tools to support staff throughout their employee lifecycle, including induction, clarifying job descriptions and daily responsibilities, conducting regular 1:1s, probation reviews and annual performance reviews.

  • Grade: 5.1
  • Rate of pay: £32,875
  • Duration of Role: Permanent
  • Hours per Week: 37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 days.
  • Note: No current student applications will be considered for this position due to it being a full-time, 37 hour per week position.
  • Weekend and evening work: Required at key times of the year.
  • Holiday: 27 days + Closure Days + Bank Holidays
  • Location: Based at Frenchay Campus, Bristol. The postholder may work at any of the Union’s establishments (Bower Ashton Campus, Glenside Campus, etc.).
