Account Management at The Story Engineers is how we build enduring partnerships and ensure our clients' long-term success. The Account Manager is the relationship lead for an assigned client group, charged with deepening those relationships and growing The Story Engineers' presence within them. They own the client relationship end-to-end, taking the lead on business development across their client group and translating client needs into actionable opportunities. They act as the primary conduit between our clients and our internal multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring that our creative and technical solutions align with the client's strategic objectives.
The role suits someone who is professionally curious and builds genuine rapport with a diverse range of organisations including architects, experience designers and developers, engaging with each on their own terms. You bring confidence and control to complex commercial situations, acting as a credible, candid voice across your client group.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Client Group Leadership: Own the growth and relationship management across your assigned client group, serving as the lead point of contact for all client matters.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary conduit between clients and internal teams, keeping each client’s objectives front and centre while building long-term trust and alignment across the full breadth of your group.
- Business Development: Identify, qualify and initiate new opportunities across your assigned client group, distilling client briefs and pushing work through early decisions to set projects up for success.
- Strategic Planning: Translate client requirements into robust account plans, including forecasting, revenue milestones, and strategic growth targets tailored to each client’s context and ambitions.
- Commercial Management: Build and manage account budgets across your client group, ensuring commercial objectives are met and margins are protected across all engagements.
- Pitch & Proposal Leadership: Leads the delivery of pitches across the client group, participating in the bid / no bid assessment and defining winning strategies alongside senior leaders and working closely with the Bid Manager to shape compelling proposals.
- Contract & Scope Oversight: Work closely with the project execution team to ensure scopes of work are clearly defined, agreed and managed, protecting both the client’s vision and The Story Engineers commercial interests throughout delivery.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential account or relationship risks early and take practical, proactive steps to mitigate them.
- Communication skills: You are comfortable communicating with all decision makers within your account group including Business owners, Directors, Creative, Operational and Commercial teams.
- Account Ownership: You take responsibility naturally, bringing clarity to complex client needs and holding yourself accountable for the commercial health of your client group.
- Strategic Thinking: You can turn an ambiguous client conversation into a structured plan for growth and follow it through to completion.
- Commercial Awareness: You have a deep understanding of how projects make or lose money and take responsibility for budgets and trade-offs.
