100 years behind us. The next 100 starts with you.

Stoll has been supporting veterans for more than 100 years.

That’s quite a legacy.

But we’re not looking for someone to simply protect what’s gone before. We’re looking for someone who wants to help strengthen the organisation behind the purpose and shape what comes next.

As our Director of Services, you’ll lead Finance, IT and Governance — the functions that provide the foundations for Stoll to operate effectively, make good decisions and deliver for the people we support.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board, you’ll bring together financial strategy, governance, risk, assurance, technology and organisational infrastructure, ensuring Stoll has the resilience, resources and systems it needs for the future.

This isn’t a “keep things ticking over” role.

It’s an opportunity to strengthen, challenge and transform how Stoll operates, ensuring the organisation has the right foundations, culture and capabilities to achieve its ambitions.

A role to shape, transform and lead a culture of excellence

Stoll is investing in its people, services, systems and future. We’re on an important transformation journey, and this role will be central to strengthening the organisation and turning that investment into meaningful, sustainable change.

You’ll have a key role in shaping how Stoll makes decisions, manages resources, understands risk and holds itself to account.

We want to build a culture of excellence, accountability, transparency and continuous improvement - one where strong governance supports innovation, financial insight enables better decisions and technology and systems help people work more effectively.

You’ll need to be comfortable asking difficult questions, challenging established ways of working and providing clear, confident advice to the CEO and Board.

At the same time, you’ll need to understand that Finance, IT and Governance are not simply corporate functions. They exist to enable Stoll’s purpose.

Every investment decision, risk assessment, system improvement and governance process should ultimately help us deliver better outcomes for the people we support.

So, who are you?

You’ll be a strategic and commercially astute senior leader with experience operating in a regulated environment — ideally within housing, the charity sector, public services or another organisation with a strong social purpose.

You’ll bring strong financial and governance expertise, but you’ll also be someone who can see the bigger picture, connect different parts of an organisation and turn strategy into action.

You’ll ideally bring experience of:

  • Leading Finance, IT, Governance or broader corporate services at a senior level.
  • Developing and delivering financial strategy, planning, forecasting and reporting, with experience advising at Board level.
  • Understanding charity governance, regulatory compliance and the responsibilities of charity trustees.
  • Leading risk management, assurance and organisational planning, translating complex information into clear advice and effective decisions.
  • Strengthening systems, processes and infrastructure to improve organisational resilience and performance.
  • Leading and developing teams, creating clarity, accountability and a culture where people can perform at their best.
  • Supporting organisational transformation and challenging established ways of working to deliver meaningful improvement.

Veteran-sector experience is valuable, but it’s not essential. But just as importantly, You’ll understand that good governance isn’t about bureaucracy, financial management isn’t simply about numbers and technology isn’t just about systems.

It’s about creating an organisation that is strong enough, resilient enough and ambitious enough to make a genuine difference.

Why Stoll?

Because you’ll be joining an organisation with a 100 year history - and a very real opportunity to influence its next 100.

This is a chance to work closely with the CEO and Board and play a significant role in shaping Stoll’s future — strengthening its financial sustainability, governance and infrastructure while helping create the conditions for the organisation to achieve its ambitions.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead Finance, IT and Governance as a key member of Stoll’s leadership team.
  • Shape the organisation’s financial strategy, governance and infrastructure for the future.
  • Transform systems, processes and ways of working.
  • Build a culture of excellence, accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Influence strategic decisions and provide trusted advice to the CEO and Board.
  • Strengthen Stoll’s resilience, sustainability and ability to deliver its charitable purpose.
  • Develop people and create high-performing, empowered teams.
  • Make a tangible difference to veterans and other vulnerable residents.
  • Be part of an organisation with genuine purpose, heritage and ambition.

100 years is a long time to build something that matters.

The question is: what will you do to help shape the next 100?
