Lead the team that keeps the countryside running. You know that feeling when everything just works? Machines humming, people smiling, production running like a dream. That’s not luck. That’s good engineering — and great leadership. I'm looking for someone who can make that happen every shift. You’ll lead, coach and mentor a team of engineers at the main site - guiding them through everything from day-to-day maintenance to long-term reliability improvements.
If you love solving complex problems, developing people, and getting hands-on with modern manufacturing technology, this could be your perfect blend of leadership and engineering geekery.
What you’ll be doing:- Running an engineering shift team that doesn’t just fix things, but improves them.
- Managing asset maintenance and reliability - making sure our kit performs at its best, all the time.
- Supporting apprentices and developing the next generation of engineering talent.
- Championing safety, reliability and continuous improvement (because excellence isn’t a one-off project).
- Using data, diagnostics and a healthy dose of engineering intuition to keep things running smoothly.
- A solid engineering background (apprenticeship or higher-level qualification).
- Experience in automation, controls and fault-finding in a fast-moving environment.
- A head for problem-solving and a heart for coaching others.
- An understanding of reliability, asset care and how engineering impacts performance.
- Project management experience.
- Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) know-how.
- Leadership or mentoring qualifications (ILM Level 3 or equivalent).
Why you’ll love it: Rooted in the Somerset, and serious about doing things properly - for people, the planet and the products we make. It’s not just a job; it’s a place where your ideas and expertise actually make a difference. You’ll get all the usual benefits - solid pension, life cover, healthcare cashback, and a decent holiday allowance - plus a few extra perks that make life a bit sweeter (including some very tasty staff discounts). Investing in people, communities, and our future. If you’re the kind of engineer who wants to leave things better than you found them, you’ll fit right in.
