Production Shift Manager
Food Manufacturing | £50,000-£55,000 | 4 on 4 off Days
This is an opportunity to do more than simply manage a shift.
The operation is developing, the team has plenty of potential, and there is real scope for someone to come in, raise standards and shape how the shift performs.
You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day operation, leading the production team across safety, quality, service, cost and performance. The foundations are there, but there is plenty still to improve—from developing frontline leadership and increasing engagement to reducing waste, improving efficiency and embedding more consistent ways of working.
A major part of the role will be developing the people around you. You’ll coach Shift Managers, Team Leaders and Operators, create greater accountability and build a team capable of delivering sustainable improvements rather than short-term fixes.
You’ll also work closely with Engineering, Technical, Planning and Continuous Improvement to identify opportunities and turn them into practical changes on the factory floor.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the day-to-day performance of the production shift
- Coaching and developing the shift leadership team
- Driving improvements across efficiency, waste, labour and output
- Building stronger standards, structure and accountability
- Ensuring safety, quality and customer requirements are consistently met
- Using performance data to identify issues and implement lasting improvements
- Supporting the continued development of a growing operation
- Creating an engaged, capable and high-performing team
What we're looking for
You’ll already have experience leading production teams within food manufacturing or a similarly fast-paced FMCG environment.
More importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys developing people and improving an operation. You’ll be visible on the factory floor, comfortable challenging existing ways of working and able to bring your team with you through change.
You don’t need to arrive with every answer, but you will need the energy, credibility and leadership skills to create momentum and make improvements stick.
If you’re looking for a Production Shift Manager role where you can genuinely influence the operation, develop a team and see the impact of your work, this is worth a conversation.
