Packaging looks simple when it’s sitting on a supermarket shelf. Getting it there is another story.

This is a hands-on Packaging Technologist role where you’ll be involved from concept through to launch — developing packaging, running trials, solving issues on site and making sure everything works properly in production.

You won’t just be managing specifications from behind a desk. You’ll be working closely with NPD, QA, Operations, suppliers and design agencies to get packaging right.

The role

  • Managing packaging development from concept through to launch
  • Coordinating artwork, reprographics and print quality with design agencies
  • Leading packaging trials and supporting new product launches
  • Troubleshooting packaging issues alongside QA and Operations
  • Managing packaging specifications, compliance and technical requirements
  • Identifying cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Working with suppliers and keeping up with new packaging materials and trends

What they're looking for

  • Experience in packaging in manufacturing
  • Good understanding of packaging materials, films and production processes
  • Comfortable working across multiple functions and managing projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A packaging or food-related degree would be beneficial

If you enjoy the technical side of packaging but also want to be close to the action — solving problems, running trials and getting things over the line — this could be a good fit.
