Head of Warehouse Operations £90,000 - £120,000 + car allowance & benefits Surrey area – exact location to be confirmed Have you taken a warehouse from an empty building to a fully functioning operation? Chosen the layout, put the systems in place, recruited the team and made sure customers received what they ordered? That experience is the starting point for this role. I’m recruiting for an established international business supplying specialist products and equipment to the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors. They’re developing a new operation in the Surrey area and need someone to establish the warehouse and distribution function, then lead it as the business grows. You’ll be involved from the outset. Helping shape the layout and fit-out, selecting systems and equipment, establishing stock control and order fulfilment processes, and building the team. Once operational, you’ll take responsibility for service, costs, operational performance and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with the commercial team to make sure the operation can support growth while keeping control of inventory, budgets and working capital. There is potential for the position to develop into a broader General Manager role, so you’ll need commercial understanding alongside your operational experience. What they’re looking for: Someone who has personally established and scaled a warehouse or distribution operation, with clear ownership of getting it operational. Experience within specialist industrial distribution, construction products, utilities supplies, pipeline products or closely related technical equipment. Financial accountability, including budgets, operating costs, inventory and working capital. Experience recruiting and developing teams, introducing systems and establishing practical working processes. A hands-on approach and the ability to plan beyond the initial launch. You could already be a Head of Operations looking for broader business responsibility, or a General Manager who enjoys getting involved in the detail and building an operation. The proposed location is in the Surrey area, with the exact site still being finalised. If you’ve set up a warehouse before, have industry experience and would be interested in discussing the opportunity, get in touch for a confidential conversation
