If you’re an engineer who enjoys a fast-paced production environment, proper fault-finding, and being part of a team that actually talks to each other this one’s worth a look. I’m working with a large, well-established manufacturer supplying major retail and foodservice customers. It’s a high-volume, automated site where engineering plays a central role in keeping performance high and downtime low. They’re looking for a shift engineer to join the team. Someone technically strong, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership on shift.
The Role:
- You’ll be part of a shift engineering team delivering maintenance support across production.
- Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns quickly and effectively.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance properly. Not just ticking boxes.
- Managing reactive and planned work in line with priorities.
- Keeping documentation accurate and audit-ready.
- Identifying risks before they turn into failures.
- Supporting plant shutdown activities.
- Communicating clearly with operations, technical and hygiene teams.
- Contributing to KPIs around downtime, efficiency and waste.
- Driving continuous improvement across machinery and processes.
There’s an expectation that you’ll take accountability on shift — delegating where appropriate but owning outcomes.
What they’re looking for:
- A recognised engineering qualification.
- Experience in a fast-paced or automated manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding ability with a methodical approach.
- Experience using a CMMS system.
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Proactive mindset with a bias for action.
- Comfortable communicating across departments.
You’ll need to be technically capable, performance-driven, and confident working as part of a team.
The offer:
- £48,000–£52,000.
- Company pension.
- Life insurance.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Enhanced parental leave.
- Referral programme.
- On-site parking.
- Wellbeing support.
- Additional leave.
Why this Role:
This is a large, established food manufacturer with strong backing and long-term investment. Engineering isn’t an afterthought here, it’s central to site performance. If you like structure, standards, and a team that takes ownership rather than passing problems around, this would suit you.
