About the Role

As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring maximum availability and reliability of production equipment across a modern manufacturing facility. Working within a highly automated environment, you will support operational performance through reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance strategies, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment reliability projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure maximum equipment reliability through:
    • Rapid response to breakdowns
    • Effective fault diagnosis and repairs
    • Preventative maintenance strategies
  • Maintain compliance with:
    • Health & Safety procedures
    • Environmental & Quality standards
    • LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out)
    • Permit to Work systems
    • Statutory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies including:
    • TPM
    • RCM
    • RCA
    • PDCA
    • 5S
  • Lead and contribute to reliability and efficiency improvement projects
  • Collaborate closely with Operations teams to support a high-performance manufacturing culture
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS/SAP systems
  • Support engineering and capital investment projects to ensure delivery within:
    • Budget
    • Quality standards
    • Project timelines

Experience & Key Attributes

Essential

  • Minimum BTEC/NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Strong multi-skilled engineering background with an electrical bias
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills
  • Good IT literacy including MS Office and maintenance systems

Desirable

  • Experience within FMCG, Food, Beverage, or high-speed manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies

Additional Skills

  • Ability to manage contractors and issue permits safely
  • Strong understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to support and train colleagues
