You'll lead a team of engineers within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, driving engineering excellence, reliability improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. The Role

  • Lead, coach and develop the engineering shift team, promoting a high-performance and safety-first culture.
  • Support ongoing site investment and continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing capability and reliability.
  • Deliver proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to maximise equipment performance and uptime.
  • Provide technical expertise across automated manufacturing systems and support fault finding activities on complex equipment.
  • Drive best practice in asset care, reliability, and engineering standards throughout the site.
  • Work closely with apprentices and junior engineers, mentoring and supporting the development of future engineering talent.
  • Assist in implementing new technologies, processes, and engineering improvements across the facility.
  • Promote strong health, safety, and food safety standards in line with company and legislative requirements.
  • Use engineering data and diagnostics to identify root causes, improve reliability, and prevent recurring issues.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Apprenticeship qualified or equivalent training across multiple engineering disciplines, ideally including automation and control systems.
  • HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience working within a fast-paced FMCG or automated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of asset care, preventative maintenance, and reliability-focused engineering.
  • Advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills across automated equipment and systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing performance measures such as OEE.
  • Ability to coach, support, and develop engineering teams.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering engineering or capital projects.
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
  • Previous mentoring or coaching experience with apprentices or junior engineers.
  • Leadership or management qualifications such as ILM Level 3 or equivalent.
