I’m working with a large, well-established manufacturer supplying major retail and foodservice customers. It’s a high-volume, automated site where engineering plays a central role in keeping performance high and downtime low.
They’re looking for a shift engineer to join the team. Someone technically strong, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership on shift.
The Role:You’ll be part of a shift engineering team delivering maintenance support across production. That means:
- Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns quickly and effectively
- Completing planned preventative maintenance properly. Not just ticking boxes
- Managing reactive and planned work in line with priorities
- Keeping documentation accurate and audit-ready
- Identifying risks before they turn into failures
- Supporting plant shutdown activities
- Communicating clearly with operations, technical and hygiene teams
- Contributing to KPIs around downtime, efficiency and waste
- Driving continuous improvement across machinery and processes
There’s an expectation that you’ll take accountability on shift — delegating where appropriate but owning outcomes.
What they’re looking for:- A recognised engineering qualification
- Experience in a fast-paced or automated manufacturing environment
- Strong fault-finding ability with a methodical approach
- Experience using a CMMS system
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Proactive mindset with a bias for action
- Comfortable communicating across departments
You’ll need to be technically capable, performance-driven, and confident working as part of a team.
