Supporting the administration team with our daily running tasks

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide support to all clinical staff
  • Ensure computers are made ready, telephones diverted and re-diverted, rooms opened for surgeries to commence
  • Deal with all incoming and outgoing post
  • Enter updated patient information onto the practice clinical system
  • Receive telephone calls, take messages and respond to enquiries
  • Receive and deal with any requests for repeat medication as appropriate to the role
  • Deal with all ambulance booking requests
  • Ensure collection and distribution of any specimens received
  • Arrange and maintain appointment systems for the primary care team – booking and cancelling appointments where appropriate
  • Ensure waiting room is tidy at all times
  • Ensure locums receive all necessary information
  • Provide support to the attached staff, to ensure patients receive an efficient service
  • Responsible for dealing with actions required on path lab results and correspondence
  • Responsible for IT issues, problem solving including hardware issues with support from third party provider

About us:

The Stephenson Medical Practice is looking for a full-time enthusiastic Medical Receptionist to support their Practice Team. The candidate should have previous Primary Care experience. EMIS web experience would be advantageous; however, training will be given. Stephenson Medical Practice (12,500 patients) is a well-organised training practice with an excellent reputation that employs a Team of Leaders philosophy which recognises the skills and interests of all our team members. We encourage and support personal development hoping the successful candidate can be trained and developed in line with our succession planning. We are forward-thinking and put the patient at the centre of everything we do while ensuring flexible ways of working for the team trying to achieve a work/life balance. (No salaried member of staff works on their birthday!) At our last CQC inspection, we were rated as Outstanding overall. We have an active patient participation group that is supportive and helps us design our services. Friends and Family test results always produce excellent comments from patients and they are very appreciative of our efforts.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 in customer care or Business administration

Experience:

  • Experience within GP Practice setting
  • EMIS Clinical system
