The Stephen James Partnership (SJP) is an award-winning legal recruitment consultancy, specialising in attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry. Our Corporate Partnerships (CP) team leads our retention efforts, fostering employee development and engagement for our clients through mentoring, coaching and training. We are best known for our pioneering mentoring programmes Black Lawyers Matter and Best In Class that connect learning and development (L&D) with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). This means our services take a purposeful approach – one that develops people as much as it promotes wider representation.

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and driven Corporate Partnerships Consultant to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility from day one, combining client engagement and programme delivery at its core. This involves managing client relationships, conducting new business outreach, and delivering insights through reporting and analysis. Alongside this sits ownership of the day-to-day delivery of our mentoring programmes – leading check-in calls, managing participant engagement, and developing case studies to capture impact. Outside of these, this role contributes to broader, exciting projects such as planning our annual mentoring event and designing high-quality materials for our impact-led programmes.

Opportunity & You

This is an exciting role for someone who wants to build experience across multiple areas such as client engagement, sales, operations, and programme delivery, within a purpose-driven environment. You will rapidly build your relationship management skills, sharpen your commerciality, strengthen your client engagement abilities and boost your operational delivery capabilities. With the variety of your day-to-day tasks, no two days will look the same, thereby providing a strong avenue to make this space your own. You will be expected to take charge of your desk and bring in new ideas (which we very much encourage!), all whilst being amply supported by one of our Senior Consultants as you learn the ropes. This is an excellent foundation for someone early on who is commercially minded, confident in a sales-oriented environment and invigorated by the opportunity to work across multiple areas.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients across our programmes, whilst identifying opportunities to enhance value and engagement.
  • Preparing client-facing reports and case studies, using data to deliver insights and demonstrate impact.
  • Supporting new business development through proactive outreach (including calls, emails, and LinkedIn), and identifying potential opportunities.
  • Managing the end-to-end delivery of our mentoring programmes, ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants.
  • Leading regular check-ins with mentees and mentors, maintaining engagement throughout programme lifecycles.
  • Collecting and analysing participant data to inform client and team reporting.
  • Managing internal systems, including our CRM, team inbox, and tech platform, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of our annual mentoring event.
  • Creating high-quality materials using Canva and supporting content creation for LinkedIn and broader communications.

Requirements

  • Early in your career, with experience across a range of environments (e.g. internships, part-time roles, sales, or customer-facing positions), demonstrating both mental agility and the ability to operate in a professional setting.
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills, with confidence engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and building relationships, including actively reaching out via phone, email, and LinkedIn.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset, with a track record of taking ownership and initiative in getting things done.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stay on top of details, and follow through consistently.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to roll up your sleeves across both client-facing and operational aspects of the role.
