We are seeking an interim Senior Payments & Regulatory Counsel to join a leading global payments organization on a short-term engagement with the potential to extend up to 12 months. This is a rare opportunity for an interim lawyer to take a high-impact, strategic role with global exposure across Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA). The Role:
- You will act as a point of contact for critical cross-border payment initiatives, owning strategy, execution, and compliance engagement.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading global regulatory strategy and Phase 2 planning for innovative payment solutions
- Managing local regulatory advice and license readiness across multiple jurisdictions
- Engaging with regulators, scheme operators, and internal compliance teams
- Coordinating with external counsel and consolidating obligations across regions
- Creating global documentation to ensure seamless transitions and scalability
Who We're Looking For:
- Qualified lawyer with 7+ years PQE in law firms or corporate legal teams
- Deep expertise in payments regulation, domestic and cross-border funds transfers
- Experience advising on connecting to local payment schemes (EU, UK, Asia-Pacific, Americas, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to operate in multi-national, multicultural environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication, fluent in English
- Proactive, results-driven, and able to work under time-sensitive deadlines
