An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lending Lawyer to join the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Legal team of a globally recognised investment bank on an initial 6-month interim contract.

This role has been created to support a busy and growing lending business, providing additional legal resource across a broad range of corporate lending and credit transactions.

The Role

You will act as a trusted legal adviser to the business, supporting a broad range of flow lending transactions, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, overdraft facilities and syndicated lending arrangements.

The role will involve negotiating lending documentation, managing legal and reputational risk, and partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the Corporate & Investment Bank to deliver pragmatic and commercially focused legal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on a range of corporate lending transactions, including bilateral and syndicated facilities.
  • Draft, review and negotiate LMA-based facility agreements and ancillary finance documentation.
  • Provide practical legal advice on credit and lending matters across the UK and Europe.
  • Support the business on legal risk, including sanctions, AML and conduct-related considerations.
  • Assist with regulatory, transformation and simplification projects across the lending business.
  • Develop and improve negotiation guidelines, playbooks and documentation processes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Legal, Front Office, Credit, Risk and Compliance.

About You

You will be a qualified lawyer with strong experience in lending, banking and finance, gained either within an investment bank, financial institution or leading law firm.

You will ideally have experience across

  • Bilateral and syndicated lending
  • LMA documentation
  • Facility agreements and ancillary finance documents

You will also bring

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to legal risk.
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Leveraged Finance or Project Finance experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
