We are working with a leading UK financial institution seeking an experienced Lending Lawyer to join its Business & Commercial Banking legal team on an interim basis from August until the end of 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with business banking, lending products or retail banking experience to support a broad lending portfolio spanning sole traders, SMEs and mid-market customers.
The role offers exposure to a diverse range of lending products and strategic projects, including product development, digital transformation initiatives and regulatory change.
- Advising on a range of business banking lending products, including loans and overdrafts.
- Advising on digital lending journeys and customer application processes.
- Supporting remediation and change projects across the lending business.
- Advising on legal and regulatory risks impacting lending products.
- Providing legal support on government-backed lending schemes and intermediary distribution channels.
- Working closely with product, risk, compliance and business stakeholders.
Experience within a bank, challenger bank, financial institution or private practice banking team.
Strong understanding of lending products within a business banking or retail banking environment.
Experience advising on product development, governance or regulatory matters.
Knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act and/or Consumer Duty would be highly desirable.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Contract running through to the end of the year.
Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office.
