Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to specific projects on Steamship Authority premises. Responsible for developing the budget specifications, plans, contracts, proposals and purchase orders for special projects. Review and approve plans and specifications prepared by consultants. Administer all shore side construction contracts specific to special project through completion. Ensure that the Steamship Authority complies with all applicable Massachusetts building codes and Handicapped Access Regulations and also the Department of Environmental Quality Engineering Rules and Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop bid documents, negotiate, supervise and coordinate the performance and scheduling of contractors.
- Coordinate with the contractors all work to be conducted by in-house resources and outside contractors.
- Perform periodic inspections of the terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities pertaining to special projects.
- Investigate, to determine the cause of and recommend corrective actions to be taken on casualties or damage to areas pertaining to special projects at terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities.
- Establish and maintain a long term planning schedule for special projects at terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities.
- Provide liaison with the insurance underwriters on the review and inspection of special projects at terminals, buildings, docks, and parking facilities.
- Responsible for assisting with the Authority’s environmental regulatory compliance to ensure operations and maintenance activities comply with both Federal and Massachusetts rules and regulations. Maintain all applicable records for regulatory review at all times.
- Keep the General Manager informed on the status of all ongoing projects.
- Attend weekly department meetings as directed.
- Respond to emergency situations pursuant to special projects outside of normal work hours.
- Fulfill the duties and responsibilities which may be delegated by the General Manager.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
Required Knowledge:
- B.S. in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years work experience in the construction and supervision of construction of buildings
- Professional Engineering License is required

The minimum salary for this position is $110,500 and the maximum salary is $174,600.
