The Employment Consultant plays a vital role in supporting learners and jobseekers to achieve sustainable employment within the construction industry and other vocational sectors.

The role combines pastoral mentoring, careers guidance, and employer engagement to ensure every learner is well prepared for work, self-employment, or progression into further training.

This position is central to linking our learners with real job opportunities, ensuring both employers and candidates are well-matched, supported, and ready for success.

  • Key Result Areas
  • Learner Mentoring and Support
  • Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to learners throughout their programme, focusing on employability, confidence, and personal development.
  • Deliver tailored advice and guidance (IAG) at enrolment, helping learners set career goals and identify potential barriers to employment.
  • Support learners in producing high-quality CVs, cover letters, and job applications.
  • Deliver sessions on job search skills, interview techniques, and workplace expectations.
  • Offer guidance for those seeking self-employment or freelance work, including registration and compliance basics.
  • Provide ongoing pastoral care, signposting learners to external support where necessary.
  • Employer Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national employers, employment agencies, and sector networks.
  • Identify and promote suitable vacancies, work placements, and apprenticeships for learners.
  • Match candidates to opportunities based on skills, experience, and career aspirations.
  • Liaise with tutors and training staff to ensure learners are work-ready and appropriately skilled for available roles.
  • Programme Support
  • Conduct initial IAG interviews and employment screening as part of the learner onboarding process.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of learner interactions, outcomes, and employer contacts.
  • Contribute to internal quality and compliance processes, ensuring documentation meets funding and awarding body requirements
