We are a busy family-run cafe based in Willaston, directly on the Wirral Way looking for an experienced and passionate Cafe Head Chef to join our team. We pride ourselves in serving homemade, quality produce, locally sourced wherever possible.
Due to our location, a full drivers license is required as there are no direct transport links.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a keen eye for food safety and quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee food production, manage kitchen operations, and ensure high standards are being met. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food preparation, supervising staff, and fostering a positive team environment. We can turnover up to 140 covers per day, so this role isn't for the faint-hearted, but a hard-working individual who has had similar experience dealing with large numbers in a small kitchen.
Sociable hours that allow for a balanced lifestyle: We are open Wednesday - Sunday 9:30-4, (kitchen open 9:30-3:30 Wed-Sat, and until 3pm on a Sunday) so working hours are generally between 7:30am and 4pm - with some flexibility for the right candidate.
Duties:
- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the café kitchen, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Oversee food production, including preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items.
- Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative, positive and professional environment.
- Develop new recipes and menu offerings in line with current culinary trends and customer preferences.
- Ensure all food served meets quality standards and is prepared in accordance with food safety legislation.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock to minimise waste.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times.
Skills:
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or restaurant environment.
- Extensive food production and culinary experience with a strong focus on quality and presentation.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster teamwork.
- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to oversee multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
