We are an independent music house: a unique blend of record label, distributor (digital & physical), marketing agency and creative studio. We’ve been connecting music with audiences for over 25 years and are recognised as a force of creativity and innovation in design, business, and in the application of ethical values to the music industry, with a unique set of capabilities in music production, distribution, design, e-commerce, and marketing.
This is an exciting time for state51. At the end of last year we scored a top ten with Madness and their ‘Hit Parade’ album. Kate Bush was also back in the charts with ‘Running Up That Hill’. We have also taken on a number of inspirational independent labels. The growth of our physical distribution business means we are expanding our team with two roles: sales and warehouse.
This is an outward-facing sales position and it will suit someone who loves talking to shop owners, workers and buyers. We’re after someone who is genuinely excited about selling records, developing the reputation of our catalogue and distribution team. You’ll be supported by our Sales Manager and asked to take on a set of specific and general shop relationships, assist with administrative work such as catalogue management, setting up newsletters, and inputting orders. You’ll need to liaise closely with our on-site warehouse team and sometimes will need to muck in with packing and sending.
This is a fantastic opportunity within the independent music sector and will suit an ambitious and hardworking person, confident in sales, who has a desire to market and sell records and to work with a great team trying to build something special.
We’ve offered a sliding scale salary suited to juniors and intermediates but we are open to talking to more experienced professionals as well, so if you are interested but need to negotiate on salary you should still get in touch.
