Star Lane Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to cover maternity leave for a 12‑month fixed term. The role involves overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the practice operations service, managing staff and operational systems, ensuring compliance with NHS and regulatory requirements, and supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care. Working closely with the Practice Manager and clinical team, the Operations Manager will play a key role in maintaining efficiency and continuity of service throughout the cover period.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective operational management of the practice, ensuring day‑to‑day services run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage and support administrative and non‑clinical staff, including rota planning, supervision, and performance management.
  • Ensure the practice meets all NHS, CQC, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist HR functions including recruitment, induction, appraisals, training, and absence management.
  • Support the Practice Manager and clinical team with operational planning, service development, and quality improvement.
  • Be responsible for premises management, IT systems, data protection, complaints, and health and safety compliance.
