At the cultural heartbeat of The Standard are our team who bring to life our spaces, engage with our guests and vibrate social energy, day and night across our bars, restaurants, event and guest spaces. Defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle, we are now looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Ground Floor team as a Host.

Isla restaurant and terrace is an indoor-outdoor garden oasis with a Modern European & British menu of seasonal small plates, minimal-intervention wines, and seasonal cocktails. The Library Lounge is our cosiest corner, and a hub for our music and cultural programming. Double Standard restaurant and bar has become best known for its famous burgers, DJs, boozy brunches, guest chefs and BBQs, all enjoyed in the 70s-inspired bar space or in the sun-soaked terraces.

Your role as a Host for our Ground Floor restaurants and bars will be key to our guests' experience. You’ll be the all-important first and last point of contact; meeting guests on arrival and escorting them to their tables, on hand to deal with their queries, provide information and cloakroom services, and oversee table plans.

For our guests, you will add a touch of personality and theatre to their experience, making guests feel welcome whilst they visit The Standard and our energetic and vibrant city. You will therefore need to be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and able to handle pressure well; thrive in a busy high volume, high energy environment and manage multiple tasks and guests with ease.

You will be passionate about service, very well organised with a strong working knowledge of restaurant and bar operations, the order of service, and reservation management skills. We expect busy evenings and events, so prior experience working in a high-volume venue is important.

Do you have what it takes to be a Host at The Standard? ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; dynamic, vivid, and engaging. Whilst prior experience as a Host is essential for this role, you will also have an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests. You will therefore need:

  • Prior experience as a Host or Restaurant Receptionist, ideally gained in a similar busy restaurant, ‘Lifestyle’ boutique hotel or restaurant pop-up
  • Guest Experience focused with a natural flair for service, and the ability to build genuine relationships with guests
  • Highly social, motivated, and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
  • Confident in restaurant and bar operations and service, with a passion for food and drinks
  • Available full-time with full flexibility to work Monday–Sunday (3PM – 11PM)
  • Prior experience using SevenRooms and POS
  • We are actively seeking candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music, and entertainment industries

All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates prior to commencing employment.
