Shift Engineer role at The Standard, London is a full‑time position offering a competitive salary of £34,274 plus accommodation service charge, bonus, and OT payments. Shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off; night and weekend work required; 24‑hour coverage via rotating shifts.

Your Role
As a Shift Engineer, you will support the Director of Engineering and senior team as a custodian of the property and assets. Your role is predominantly operational, providing day‑to‑day engineering support and ensuring that our product is maintained to the highest standards for guests and employees.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine engineering duties, including daily maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Implement health & safety checks, testing and monitoring of the BMS.
- Supervise contractors and support service level agreements for plant and equipment.
- Work efficiently across front and back‑of‑house areas, plant rooms, kitchens, and guest bedrooms.
- Prioritise work and manage emergency situations as they arise.
Qualifications
- A proven track record as a Shift Engineer or similar, ideally in boutique or lifestyle hotel sector.
- Qualified trade professional with licences for Electrical, Mechanical, Gas/Plumbing, or Refrigeration and cooling systems.
- Solid understanding of hotel operations, facilities and BMS.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, Fire, Building Safety, and facilities legislation.
- Highly organised, attentive to detail; experience with Knowcross or similar facilities management system is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including shifts, weekends and nights.
