Through authoritative journalism, industry-leading events and meaningful connections, we empower our communities to grow, connect and thrive.

We are looking for two proactive and creative Digital Marketing Assistants to support the delivery of campaigns and day-to-day digital activity across our platforms for The Bookseller/The Stage. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their marketing career to gain hands-on experience across social media, email, and event communications. Please note, we are looking for two individuals, one to work on The Stage and one to work on The Bookseller.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day posting of content across a range of social platforms, ensuring consistency in tone, style, and branding.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining the organisation’s social channels, responding to audience interactions where appropriate.
  • Help deliver event communications, including lead-up activity, on-the-day/night social posting, and post-event content.
  • Contribute to developing creative content ideas, including copywriting for posts, newsletters, and digital ads.
  • Compile monthly reports on digital activity, highlighting performance metrics and key trends.
  • Help deliver weekly issue emails, manage paid ads under supervision, and contribute to campaign planning.
  • Keep up to date with digital and social trends, sharing insights with the team to inform future activity.
  • Provide general administrative and campaign support to the marketing team as required.
  • Support time-sensitive or event-related activity outside of standard working hours as needed.

Skills & experience

  • Some experience in digital marketing, social media, or communications.
  • Strong interest in digital trends and content creation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of social platforms, email marketing, or digital advertising tools.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with design or analytics tools (e.g. Canva, Google Analytics) is an advantage.

What we are looking for:

  • Highly organised, self-motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • An ideas person – someone always looking for new, innovative ways to enhance or optimise social media campaigns.
  • Excellent communication and copywriting skills.
  • Eye for design, with creative ideas for asset and video content generation.
  • Proven ability to manage social media campaigns across multiple channels.
  • A strong eye for visual design and ability to brief and create on-brand marketing assets.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to form strong working relationships inside and outside the immediate team.

Other information:

  • Normal working hours are 9am - 5pm, with occasional evening or weekend work to cover events.
  • This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring at least three days a week at The Stage’s office on Bermondsey Street, SE1, with opportunities for remote work on the other two days.
  • Please note, whilst you will be working predominantly on one publication (either The Stage or The Bookseller), you will often be required to cover the other publication.
  • We start screening CVs and interviewing candidates from the start of a campaign. A successful candidate could progress to offer before the advertised closing date. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible if you are interested.
  • Closing date - 28th May 2026.
  • We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from all individuals, regardless of background, and celebrate the unique perspectives and experiences that diversity brings.
  • If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are here to support you and ensure you have the best possible experience.
