Our blue chip client is looking for HGV1 Drivers to work out of their Wellingborough site, with an immediate start. You will drive a lorry from their exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They are a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you’re comfortable.
The site runs from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.
Key Role Responsibilities
- We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.
- The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - but you’ll still be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.
- You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.
- At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others, you’ll need to do it yourself.
- Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.
- You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
