Production Line Lead PM Shift in Suffolk

Location: Mendlesham, Suffolk Pay: £15.66 per hour Hours: Monday–Friday, 14:30–23:00 Friday: 14:10–22:40 to accommodate a weekly team meeting We are looking for a hands-on Production Line Lead to join a busy warehouse and production operation in Mendlesham. This is a practical, physically demanding role where you will help lead the day-to-day operation of an automated packing line. Working alongside another Line Lead, you will coordinate activity on the line, support operatives and ensure production runs safely, efficiently and in line with quality and production requirements. This role involves regular manual handling and the use of Material Handling Equipment, including a Powered Pallet Truck (PPT) and Pallet Stacker . What you'll be doing You will take an active role in running the production line rather than simply supervising from the sidelines. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and carrying out production line changeovers in line with production plans and procedures Coordinating day-to-day line activity and providing guidance to production operatives Ensuring the correct products, labels and packaging are loaded and verified Completing line start-up, shut-down, clean-down and product changeover activities Responding to common line stoppages such as product jams, misfeeds and sensor interruptions Carrying out first-line operational checks and routine tasks to keep the line running effectively Identifying and escalating equipment or operational issues when required Accurately completing production records and data spreadsheets Inputting and checking information on PC-based production systems, including SKUs, batch information, dates and labelling details Supporting planned maintenance and maintaining accurate equipment records Operating PPT and Pallet Stacker equipment safely and in line with training Maintaining high standards of hygiene, housekeeping and food safety Ensuring Health & Safety, environmental and site procedures are followed at all times Helping improve line performance, reliability and operational KPIs What we're looking for We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility on shift and leading by example. You should be: Confident working in a fast-paced production, packing or warehouse environment Comfortable working around automated machinery Able to carry out a physically demanding role involving manual handling Confident using, or willing and able to be trained on, Powered Pallet Trucks and Pallet Stackers Comfortable using PCs and entering production information accurately Able to troubleshoot straightforward operational issues and know when to escalate more complex problems Highly attentive to detail, particularly when checking products, packaging, dates and labels Safety-conscious and committed to following procedures Comfortable providing day-to-day direction and guidance to other team members Reliable, organised and able to communicate effectively with managers and supervisors Previous experience leading or coordinating a production or packing line would be beneficial. Working relationships You will work closely with the manager responsible for the production area and another Line Lead to coordinate production activity and communicate performance throughout the shift. You will also provide day-to-day guidance to operatives working on the line. When the production manager is not on site, you will liaise with the Warehouse Supervisor and escalate any issues as necessary.
