A strategic, external-facing philanthropy leadership role focused on securing transformational major gifts, developing new donor relationships and driving sustainable income growth to support vulnerable children worldwide. World Vision, an international children's charity, was established to support all children, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender in some of the world’s most dangerous places. Inspired by the charity’s Christian faith, the worldwide organisation helps children and families “as if they were our own” to overcome poverty and experience fullness of life.
Working closely with the Director of Relationship Fundraising, as Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will lead and grow a high-value fundraising strategy aimed at raising more than £1m annually, where you will bring excellent relationship building abilities, an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset along with a passion to support the world’s most vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a fundraising strategy generating £1m+ annually.
- Develop and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and philanthropists.
- Secure major and seven-figure gifts through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Launch and oversee new fundraising initiatives, including an Emergency Fund.
- Build new networks through events, introductions and peer-to-peer fundraising.
- Work collaboratively with marketing, PR, digital, communications, policy & programme teams.
- Create compelling funding propositions that inspire long-term donor support.
To be considered for this key position, you are likely to possess:
- Significant experience in major donor fundraising or philanthropy.
- A proven track record of growing high-value donor income.
- Strong strategic planning and project leadership skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
- Experience building relationships with senior decision-makers and wealthy individuals.
- A commercial, entrepreneurial mindset combined with strong relationship-building skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Major donor/philanthropic fundraising experience.
- Experience developing income-growth strategies.
- Ability to manage and grow high-value donor relationships.
- Strong project leadership and strategic planning capability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for humanitarian work and supporting vulnerable children.
With an active Christian faith (Permitted under Schedule 9, Part 3 of the Equality Act 2010), the role requires participation in the organisation's spiritual life and ministry. This opportunity is integral to shape and grow a significant fundraising programme. It requires a high level of autonomy and strategic influence as well as the ability to build relations with major philanthropists, resulting in direct impact on programmes supporting vulnerable children globally.
