The key purpose of Digital Insights Product Owner is accountable for defining, prioritising, and delivering data-driven products and personalisation capabilities that accelerate commercial growth across the Africa Zone. This role bridges Commercial, Digital, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Technology teams to transform business challenges into scalable analytical products, machine learning solutions, decision-support capabilities, and personalised customer experiences. The role is responsible for enabling personalised and automated customer engagement across BEES touchpoints, driving improvements in distribution, volume, market share, customer retention, and commercial productivity.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:- Product Strategy & Vision
- Own and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and strategic priorities for assigned Digital Insights products.
- Translate commercial objectives into scalable analytical and digital product opportunities.
- Partner with senior commercial stakeholders to identify growth opportunities through data, AI, automation, and customer personalisation.
- Develop and maintain a product roadmap aligned to company strategic priorities.
- Ensure all product investments are linked to measurable business outcomes and value creation.
- Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own the product backlog and prioritize initiatives based on business impact, technical complexity, value realisation, and strategic importance.
- Ensure deliverables meet business expectations, technical standards, and operational requirements. Act as the primary decision-maker for product scope, priorities, and release planning. Balance short-term business requests with long-term platform sustainability and scalability.
- Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary interface between Commercial functions and technical delivery teams.
- Challenge and refine stakeholder requests to ensure delivery of high-value solutions. Present product strategy, progress, risks, and performance to leadership teams.
- Product Performance & Value Realisation
- Define and monitor product KPIs and success metrics.
- Establish measurement frameworks to quantify commercial impact.
- Continuously identify opportunities for enhancement and optimisation.
- Knowledge of programming concepts as well as classical optimisation and search algorithms.
- Detailed knowledge of backlog management and prioritisation.
- Demonstrated ability to own and manage documentation.
- Experience managing technical teams (data scientists, data engineers).
- Leadership of cross-functional routines and projects.
- Bachelor's degrees, 3-year qualification or similar Technical qualification.
- 5 years – technical and commercial experience.
- Strong mathematical background, preferably acquired through education that covers deeper levels of differential and integral calculus, linear algebra, combinatorial analysis, probability, and statistics.
- Proficiency in at least the basic programming languages used in the day-to-day operations of the data science and engineering team: SQL, Python, and PySpark.
