Role Description
The Deputy Store Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the West Hampstead, supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of daily operations. Responsibilities include supervising team members, overseeing customer service standards, and ensuring the store is clean, well-presented, and fully stocked. The role involves assisting with opening and closing procedures, monitoring inventory, and helping to implement loss prevention measures. The Deputy Store Manager also supports training and coaching staff, resolving customer queries, and promoting The Source’s zero-waste values and product knowledge to create an engaging, educational in-store experience. This position requires hands‑on leadership on the shop floor, contributing to sales performance and a positive, inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-focused mindset, with skills in Customer Satisfaction and Customer Service to create a welcoming and supportive in-store experience.
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse customers and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Experience in Store Management and day-to-day retail operations, including supervising staff and supporting sales and performance targets.
- Knowledge of Retail Loss Prevention practices, with the ability to follow procedures that protect stock and support accurate cash handling.
- Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or customer-facing roles; experience in sustainable or food-related retail is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site full-time, including weekends or holidays as needed, and to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting stock safely.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and reliability in following store processes.
- Interest in sustainability, zero-waste living, and wholefoods, with willingness to learn and share product and environmental knowledge with customers.
