We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a long-established specialist construction contractor delivering scaffolding and brickwork packages across multiple live construction sites. This position is office-based in Northampton, with regular site visits to support commercial control, valuations, and cost management. You will work closely with site teams and fellow surveyors, supporting the commercial delivery of works across a busy and well-established operation.
Responsibilities
- Preparing measurements and cost estimates
- Producing interim valuations and applications for payment, including variations
- Pricing variation orders and managing client charging
- Preparing, negotiating, and agreeing final accounts
- Re-measuring Bills of Quantities
- Monitoring costs to ensure works remain within budget
- Producing cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
- Preparing turnover, profit forecasts, and cash flow reports
- Supporting contract claims and commercial documentation
- Attending site and commercial meetings
- Visiting live sites (typically monthly) to review progress and valuations
- Maintaining document control and general commercial administration
- Ensuring awareness and compliance with health & safety requirements
You will have previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role within construction and a strong commercial mindset. Experience within scaffolding and/or brickwork would be beneficial but is not essential; the business is open to candidates with transferable experience and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Package
- Quantity Surveyor: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE
- Assistant Quantity Surveyor: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload and priorities effectively
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience within scaffolding and/or brickwork packages
- Knowledge of SMM and cost value reconciliation processes
- Relevant construction or commercial qualifications
