We are looking to recruit an HGV Fitter/Technician for a local Haulage Company. This is a full-time, permanent position. Hourly rate is TOTALLY dependent on experience, qualifications and skill set and the hours can be flexible, between £15 to £20 an hour. Day shift, Monday to Friday, 40 to 45 a week contract, start / finish times to suit.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all vehicles in a timely, efficient and cost-effective way
- Inspections and MOT preparations
- Maintain parts inventory
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles
- Attend local breakdowns in surrounding areas if necessary
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Carry out additional tasks as requested by the Workshop Manager
Skills
- Full driving licence - Class 1 would be an advantage although not essential
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / Fitter
- Qualified HGV mechanic or qualified by experience
- Good standard of verbal and written communication skills
- Able to use initiative and work alone
- Good understanding of the MOT test requirements and legislation
