The School Secretaries are the "go to" people for all staff in terms of stationery, printing, ticketing and seating plans for special internal events, post, school buses, and general enquiries.

They are also the first point of contact for contractors and delivery drivers visiting the school.

In addition to greeting contractors and answering telephone calls, the School Secretary is heavily involved in providing high quality administrative and clerical support, including providing cover for job share partners and other administrative colleagues during absences to ensure continuity of service.

This role extends beyond the core front office duties and includes supporting a range of school departments as business needs require.

This may involve helping with sports administration, facility lettings and other operational areas during busy periods or for specific events as well as private hire bus coordination.

The post holder must be flexible, organised, a problem solver, skilled in Microsoft Office and able to adapt quickly to varied and changing tasks within a busy school setting.

This is a part‑time position, all year round, working 8.30am to 4.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and reports to the Head of Administrative Support.

Shiplake College offers a beautiful working environment, supportive colleagues, a contributory pension scheme and excellent free lunches.

Staff are encouraged to make use of the on‑site gym facilities and open‑air swimming pool, during the summer months, alongside the opportunity to make the most of our riverside location.

Shiplake College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Shiplake College is also committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
