We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Radiographer to join our small friendly team in providing a 24/7 Plain film and CT service. Our ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic and innovative approach to teamwork. This is an exciting time to join our dynamic team as we look ahead to the future with the Lochaber Redesign Project — a transformative initiative that will culminate in a brand-new hospital facility, delivering modern healthcare services to meet the needs of the region for years to come.

The Belford Hospital is a busy Rural General Hospital in Fort William covering a large geographical area. It has a 24 hour Emergency Department, receiving many casualties from mountain trauma and the large range of outdoor pursuits provided in the area. This offers a dynamic and challenging workload for the Radiology Department and an opportunity to gain valuable trauma Radiography skills. There is a 17 bed CAU, 2 bed HDU and a 12 bed Rehabilitation ward. The X-ray Department is equipped with two brand new general purpose DR x-ray units, a new 128 slice CT scanner, an Image intensifier for theatre work, mobile X-ray machine and an ultrasound scanner. There is also CR, RIS and PACS. There is an on-call commitment to provide a 24/7 service at night and weekends.

The Broadford Hospital on Skye is an enhanced Community Hospital, it is a brand new facility which opened in May 2022. It has a 24 hour Emergency Department and provides a range of acute care, with DR equipment. You may be expected to provide cover for both hospitals.

Requirements

  • You should have a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography, HCPC registration and clinical experience in a range of diagnostic imaging investigations.
  • We support CPD and role development, with Advanced Practice within the Department.
  • You should also be a patient-centered Radiographer with a commitment to training and development.

Location

Fort William, nestling at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain and the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’ offers a superb lifestyle if you enjoy fresh air/outdoor activities. There are uninhabited wildernesses and small islands, as well as the bigger well-known isles that surround Western Scotland, to explore. It has excellent schools and is within day trip distance of the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Inverness. The successful candidate may be subject to a relocation allowance.
