The Role & Responsibilities

As a Social Media Manager or Senior Social Media Manager at The Social Shepherd, you’ll manage the day‑to‑day organic social strategy for your client accounts.

Sitting within our Organic Social team, you aren’t just managing accounts, you are driving strategies that encompass Channel, Community & Content.

You will act as the day‑to‑day lead for 2 key clients, partnering closely with our Client Services and Creative teams to ensure our work is both world‑class and results‑driven.

This role will report to a Social Media Director while directly managing and mentoring a Social Media Executive.

  • Organic Strategies: Lead the development and evolution of cross‑channel organic strategies (TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring every piece of content serves a purpose.
  • Constant Optimisation: Monitor channel trends and platform updates to pivot strategies in real‑time, ensuring our clients stay ahead of the curve rather than reacting to it.
  • Social Media Management: Leading the day‑to‑day delivery, alongside your Social Media Exec on posting, scheduling, copywriting, optimisation, content planning and reporting.

Performance & Insight

  • Data‑Driven Storytelling: Collaborate on client reports, moving beyond “vanity metrics” to provide deep‑dive analysis and actionable insights that prove the value of organic social.
  • KPI Accountability: Support the Social Media Director on the ownership of client KPIs, constantly refining content tactics to ensure we are meeting (and exceeding) growth and engagement targets.
  • Management: Line manage one Social Media Executive, overseeing their workload across their dedicated client roster and providing the guidance they need to level up their skills.
  • Cultivate Talent: Support your team’s career development. Conducting 1‑to‑1s, fostering a positive culture, and ensuring they feel supported and inspired, alongside the Social Media Director.

Requirements

  • Experience: You have 3+ years of experience managing organic social media for brands. While agency experience is preferred, the ability to navigate a fast‑paced, multi‑client environment is essential.
  • A Social‑First Mindset: You don’t just “use” social media; you understand it. You have a deep knowledge of platform nuances (TikTok, Reels, Stories, Comments, etc.) and know exactly what makes a piece of content stop the scroll.
  • Strategic Creativity: You’re a creative thinker who can back up your ideas with logic. You enjoy the challenge of ideating content that lands culturally and hits specific business KPIs.
  • Operational Excellence: Your organisational skills are second to none. You’re proactive and deadline‑driven.
  • Platform Obsession: You are naturally curious and stay ahead of the curve. When an algorithm shifts or a new feature drops, you’re already thinking about how to pivot our clients’ strategies to take advantage of it.
  • Ambition & Drive: You have a “best‑in‑class” mentality and a drive to produce work you’re proud of.
  • Leadership Potential: You are an empathetic and enthusiastic communicator. Whether you’re speaking to a new client or mentoring your Social Media Executive, you bring energy and clarity to the conversation.

Depending on experience: ÂŁ35,000 to ÂŁ44,000
