At The Smarty Train, our purpose is to unlock talent, everywhere. We unlock talent globally through a range of projects, advising on talent strategy, designing training, and creating experiences. We know how to use data and science to cut through the noise. We have the creativity to produce unforgettable experiences for everyone we train, from graduates to executives. And we have the bedside manner to bring people with us. We combine the best of behavioural science, creativity, training, event design, data geekiness, production and design thinking to help our clients solve their toughest challenges. The key to our success is simple: we love what we do. We’re really good at it. We are fearless.

The Role

We are looking for a Solutions Technology Executive to join our Solutions & Technology team. This is a technical, delivery-focused role at the heart of how TST builds smarter, more automated ways of working — both internally and for our clients. You will support the build and maintenance of automated data workflows across TST’s core systems, contribute technical expertise to client projects where data and technology are central to the brief, and help keep our platforms running reliably. You will work closely with the Insights & Solutions Technology Manager and Head of Solutions Technology, operating within agreed technology standards as you develop your skills and grow your impact.

This might be the role for you if you:

  • Get genuine satisfaction from building things that work — automations, workflows, and tools that make life easier for real people
  • Have a technical foundation in Power Platform, Python, or Azure and want to deepen it in a professional environment
  • Are curious and self-sufficient — you figure things out, ask good questions, and don’t wait to be told what to do next
  • Care about doing things properly: clean data, reliable systems, clear documentation
  • Are excited by AI tools and want to use them thoughtfully, not just play with them
  • Are looking for a role where you’ll learn quickly, contribute from day one, and grow under experienced managers
  • Want to work somewhere where technology genuinely serves a bigger purpose

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Data Processes, Agents & Automations 45 %
    • Build and maintain automated data workflows across core systems, including Float, HubSpot, work trackers, revenue recognition and forecasting, and project budgets
    • Create workflow automations that save time, improve accuracy, and support scale across the business
    • Leverage AI agents and tools in line with TST’s AI best practices, implementing solutions that have real operational impact
    • Apply AI agents and tools in line with TST’s AI best practices, supporting the team in identifying and implementing useful use cases
    • Support internal stakeholders with data and technical queries, escalating to the Manager or Head of department where needed
  • Client Tech Solutions Support 30 %
    • Support project teams on tech-focused client deliverables, contributing hands‑on to build and delivery tasks
    • Adapt and convert TST materials for client implementation or platform integration
    • Maintain clear communication within project teams, providing regular updates on technical deliverables and flagging blockers early
    • Support the Manager and wider team with preparation of technical materials for client projects as required
  • ECO Data & Insights 25 %
    • Own data integrity, validation, and quality control for ECO datasets
    • Analyse quantitative data to generate clear, decision‑ready insights for ECO Reporting and Marketing
    • Maintain and improve ECO data entry and reporting templates
    • Produce client reports that tell the story of the data through quantitative analysis
    • Monitor industry trends and flag relevant developments to the Manager, contributing to internal knowledge sharing
    • Support the Data & Insights Lead on ongoing improvements to the ECO product

Our Values

Everything we do at TST is shaped by our five values — QAKES. Values are all important to live, applied in the right way, in the right contexts. They’re not ranked or hierarchical. QAKES is the whole picture.

  • Q Quality We start and end with excellence, always.
  • A Accountability We take individual ownership of what we say, do, and achieve.
  • K Kindness We support each other to learn, grow and succeed.
  • E Expertise Specialists in all we do, inventive in how we do it.
  • S Service We deliver exceptional experiences for our clients and each other.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft’s Power Platform — Power Automate and Power Apps in particular — and an appetite to build on it
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud Computing Platform; comfortable navigating cloud environments with guidance where needed
  • Some programming experience in Python and/or PowerShell — able to write and adapt scripts independently
  • Curiosity about and practical exposure to AI tools and agents, with a willingness to experiment and apply them responsibly
  • Solid data literacy — able to structure, clean, analyse, and present data clearly
  • Detail‑oriented and consistent in how you approach builds, data quality, and documentation
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical work in plain language to non‑technical colleagues
  • Organised and dependable, comfortable managing multiple tasks and flagging issues proactively to your manager

Experience

  • 1–3 years’ experience in software design and delivery, data engineering, automation, or a solutions technology role
  • Demonstrable experience building workflow automations or data pipelines using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) or equivalent
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure Cloud Computing Platform in a professional or project context
  • Programming experience in Python and/or PowerShell — confident writing scripts and building lightweight tools independently
  • Experience working with AI tools or agents in a practical, applied context is a strong advantage (including Anthropic Claude)
  • Familiarity with CRM or project management platforms — HubSpot, Float, or similar — is desirable
  • Background in a professional services, L&D, or agency environment is a plus
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field is preferred but not essential

Benefits in Excess of Salary

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Performance related bonus
  • Life insurance & workplace pension
  • 25 days annual leave plus long service award (up to 5 days), plus option to purchase additional leave
  • Bank holiday swap option
  • Additional day off on your birthday
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) with 24/7 GP appointments
  • Work from home subsidy
  • Annual eye tests and glasses subsidy
  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Comprehensive internal L&D offering
  • Wide variety of wellbeing and social activities
  • 2 volunteering days per year
