The Shropshire Star has an opportunity to join its talented editorial team. We are looking for a reporter to cover a busy patch in one of the most beautiful counties in the country for a title that is part of the award-winning Midland News Association.

You will need to be comfortable filing for digital and print, through words and video. You should also be creative, finding and producing engaging and imaginative copy that informs, entertains and drives audience.

Shropshire is a diverse and dynamic county, from the fast-growing urban new town of Telford to the beauty of the Shropshire Hills. It is home to high-tech companies, innovative agriculture and a thriving tourism industry.

As a reporter with the Shropshire Star, you will also be part of a wider team that includes the Express & Star, which covers the West Midlands and Staffordshire. Together we are among the most-read and influential daily titles in the UK and are part of Iconic Media Group.

The right applicant must be highly motivated to deliver quality stories in a fast-paced newsroom. We need someone who is able to be a full part of our friendly and hard-working editorial team, bustling with ideas and enthusiasm and who thrives on using their own initiative.

We welcome applications from senior reporters but also trainees, ideally with an NCTJ qualification. We will provide any necessary additional training.

It is essential that the right candidate has a driving licence and access to a car. The role involves some weekend working and flexible shifts.
