Do you have a passion for great content, quality journalism and the key issues and stories affecting the rural community which plays such a key part of life and business in Northern Ireland and the border counties? We are seeking to invest in our team to develop the Farming Life and Farm Week brands both in print and online. We want to recruit someone who is a storyteller and a campaigner on all issues affecting farmers, their families and the things they care about most. Already living in a world of social media, you will have a grasp of SEO and a natural understanding of what makes great content both in print and online. You will also have a knowledge of the Northern Ireland farming industry and all its facets – livestock, farming, agri‑food and rural life in general.
Who we are looking for:
- Successful candidates will have a keen eye for a story and an understanding of what is important to our audience.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow analytics, identify content trends and current issues of interest.
- Be comfortable in a fast‑paced media environment but have the organisational skills to plan ahead.
- Will have a keen news sense and an understanding of what drives audiences, along with a natural understanding of social media.
- Be capable of producing fast and accurate copy.
- Be willing to travel throughout Northern Ireland to cover stories and events.
Skills / experience:
- A team player: able to work closely with colleagues in both editorial and advertising.
- Experience of working in a newsroom, agency or on a digital platform is desirable.
- Previous experience of using a website content management system.
- Understanding of SEO principles and best practice.
- Familiarity with basic photo editing tools.
- Good interview skills and a tenacity to find the right person to talk to.
- A good knowledge of media law and the Editors Code of Practice.
- NCTJ qualification or equivalent experience/qualification.
- Strong writer, storyteller and communicator.
- Full driving licence.
Salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Please note successful candidates will be expected to work from the company's offices.
