The Sir Donald Bailey Academy is looking to appoint an experienced and highly skilled teacher for an Upper Pay Scale (UPS) position starting from September 2026. The successful candidate will consistently demonstrate excellent classroom practice. They will possess the skills to lead change and drive improvements in teaching and learning across the school. Candidates will need to possess the knowledge and skills required to secure the best possible outcomes for all pupils including those facing some disadvantage and take a major responsibility for an area of school improvement.

Main purpose

The successful candidate will:

  • Play a leading role in school improvement linked to identified priorities
  • Lead on CPD for all staff including the induction and mentoring of Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and student teachers, ensuring they receive high-quality support, coaching, and professional development.
  • Act as a champion for Pupil Premium pupils across the school, monitoring provision, supporting staff, and helping to secure strong outcomes for disadvantaged learners.
  • Take responsibility for curriculum development within identified subject(s), driving improvements in curriculum, teaching, and assessment.
  • Model excellent teaching and learning, demonstrating the professional behaviours expected of a UPS teacher.
  • Contribute to whole-school development through collaboration, coaching, and strategic leadership.
  • Be an experienced teacher in Upper Key Stage Two.
