The Job

To support our ambitious growth plans, we are actively seeking an experienced Lead Android Engineer to help spearhead our newly established Mobile Engineering Pod. This Pod consists of a team of Agile Mobile Engineers, who provide technical solutions across the SDLC to ensure our Software Development meets the ongoing and diverse needs of our customers.

In conjunction with Product and Engineering leaders, you will take ownership of our mobile strategy and help shape the future of our mobile apps.

We have a wide variety of fascinating technical challenges to overcome and have ambitions to lead the way for Field Service professionals to get their jobs done more efficiently and effectively.

Your team will utilise an arsenal of market-leading tools and techniques, in order to implement, test, and deliver (at pace) high-quality, reliable products or services. We believe a culture for constant innovation is the key to staying ahead of the competition!

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach and mentor a small team of Mobile Engineers to successfully deliver development projects to specifications

  • Drive solution design and technical decisions to build design components

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design and other business stakeholders.

  • Implement and enforce coding standards, patterns and best practices for the team in collaboration with other technical leaders

  • Ensure rapid, reliable, high quality delivery

  • Ensure regulatory, compliance and non-functional requirements are considered in technical designs

  • Ensure technical debt is identified and improvement work is appropriately prioritised

What You’ll Bring

  • Mobile App development background in Android (preferably Kotlin and/or Java)

  • Track record in leading small Engineering Teams (along with cross-functional Project Team) to deliver software solutions

  • Experience working within an agile environment

  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations

  • Familiarity with modern architectural patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP etc.)

  • An enthusiasm for keeping up to date on relevant technologies, industry trends and best practice

  • Balances hands-on coding with technical leadership
